5 Delicious Foods That Are Shockingly Low In Calories

November 15, 2018

We all of those days where we find ourselves struggling with our goals.  Just because you don't have a large number of calories left for the day doesn't mean you have to suffer!  Here is a list of 5 foods that are surprisingly low in calories.

1. Spaghetti Squash

If you love pasta this is a great option that is low in calories.  One cup of cooked spaghetti (made from white enriched noodles) contains about 220 calories and 42 grams of carbohydrates.  One cup of cooked spaghetti squash contains only 42 calories and 10 grams of carbohydrates.  You can add olive oil and mozzarella cheese to it or your favorite tomato sauce.

2. Watermelon

Watermelon is surprisingly low in calories due to its water content.  One serving of 280 grams is only 85 calories and contains 314mg of potassium.  This is a great fruit if you looking to hydrate/replenish electrolytes.

3. Cucumber with Lite Cream Cheese

Cucumbers are awesome because you can use them for so much!  You can substitute them for chips because they have a similar crunch and texture.  A favorite dip you can pair them with is lite or fat free cream cheese.  1 cup of cucumber slices is only 16 calories and contains 76mg of potassium.

4. Mini Babybel Light Natural Cheese

These cheese wheels are like the originals, but a lot less fat and less calories.  Each cheese wheel has only 50 calories and 3 grams of fat with 6 grams of protein.  These are delicious melted in some cauliflower rice and also great if you're craving cheese cake.

5. Yogurt

Really delicious, yet healthy to eat.  100 grams of yogurt is roughly 96 calories.  It is very low in carbs and fat, but high in protein.  It also good for a healthy gut bacteria.  A low-fat Greek yogurt is a great option to choose.

You don't need to deprive yourself, but there's no need to over-indulge, either.  It's completely natural to have hunger pangs, but it's better to satiate them with food that scores high on both taste and health! What's good for your taste-buds, can actually be good for you.
